Peny rhymes with challenges!

Published on 08 July 2022

Peny is a company producing prepared meals and canned vegetables belonging to the Eureden cooperative group. It has been established for nearly 60 years in the communes of Saint-Thurien and Bannalec in Finistère. Thanks to its capacity of agility and innovation, Peny has never ceased to develop over the years and continues to conquer new markets with a start in the babyfood planned for the fall of 2022!

One of Peny’s great strengths is its ability to adapt to the expectations and specificities of the different markets: supermarkets, catering, specialized channels, in France and abroad. This ability to adapt is reflected in the diversity of packaging offered (individual trays, multi-portion, round boxes …), by the responsiveness of its responses to various regulatory requirements, and finally by its willingness to offer quality products and taste for all.
Today, Peny’s ambition is to grow internationally and on the out-of-home catering market in connection with the business units of Eureden’s Long life branch.
The company, today leader of the private labels on the segment of the French ready meals, wishes to continue the development of its BtoB partnerships.

Peny manufactures all d’aucy branded ready meals and has been working for many years with well-known brands such as Thaï Union, Comme J’aime and more recently with Dietbon, Cheef… but also with the French Army, for which it has been one of the preferred suppliers for more than 35 years. The company has developed a range of specific products to meet the requirements of the Army in terms of nutritional and energy values, all in the service of taste!
This dynamism also includes a high-level research and development department and regular investments. The R&D teams propose daily recipes in line with societal expectations in terms of taste and pleasure, new consumer trends (flexitarianism, vegetarianism…) and nutritional balance.

Peny takes up the challenge of babyfood !

In 2022, the company launches in the prepared dishes for baby with new recipes “made in breizh” in preparation. The implementation of this ambitious project implies a deep modification of the practices and the working environment to answer the requirements of this specific market as well as a policy of voluntary investments. This project is clearly part of the site’s transformation program.

A responsible development dynamic

In addition to the importance of maintaining an irreproachable level of service for all its customers, Peny is also committed to providing a “clean label” and innovative offer.
The company is also constantly looking for more practical and environmentally friendly packaging and is developing its organic ranges. These are all Ecocert certified.
As far as ready-made meals are concerned, Peny only uses French beef. The seafood products are all MSC or ASC certified. This certification guarantees that the products purchased come from sustainable fishing or aquaculture operations that operate according to the best practices of the sector to promote the preservation of the environment, biodiversity and water resources, as well as ensuring good working conditions for employees.
Finally, Peny is committed to designing balanced ready meals with a significant proportion of recipes in nutri-score A.

Peny faces up to generational change

With its 330 permanent employees, 50% of whom have been with the company for more than 20 years, Peny must now prepare for the future and ensure that the company’s know-how and culture are passed on by conducting a dynamic recruitment policy to attract new talent.
In an area of high employment, one of Peny’s challenges is to promote the diversity of its professions and develop the versatility of its teams in order to offer career prospects for all. Peny is also trying to meet the new societal expectations by promoting actions on the working conditions and environment.
More than 30 positions are still to be filled this year: manufacturing operators, production line operators, machine operators, maintenance technicians …. So don’t wait any longer, come and take up the Peny challenge!
